Southern belle ... or worse?

Maggie has developed this annoying habit of extending most one-syllable words into two-syllable words. (Let me just say as a preface here that although we've lived in the South our entire lives, Bobby and I both pride ourselves on not sounding too twangy. Maybe we're kidding ourselves, but neither of us thinks we sound overly Southern, at least not compared to some of our neighbors. Now, plop us in another part of the country, it's a different story ...)

So in Maggie's world of late, the word "rest" is pronounced "ray-yest," "best" = "bay-yest" ... you get the picture. I'm hoping it's a phase she'll outgrow -- she really sounds like a little hillbilly sometimes! ;-)
