Breakfast with Santa

It's the first Saturday in December ... it must be Breakfast with Santa! BWS is a fundraiser for our church youth group -- they sell tickets to the event, which features a hearty breakfast (if you're a meat-eater anyway), craft projects for the kids, a silent auction for adults, and of course, photos with the big guy in red.

This was the first year that Maggie happily sat on Santa's lap. The first year we went, she was 2 and refused to sit on his lap by herself.

The next year, 2007, we made progress -- she sat on his lap alone. She wasn't too happy about it, but she did it.

This year, finally, she was excited to see Santa. She didn't rattle off a long list of gifts; she simply said she wanted a nightlight (there's a story behind that request ... we have Meghan to thank for it).

She was also really happy to see her friends today. Here are Gigi, Maggie, Dunstan, and Meghan:

Tomorrow's going to be another busy day. The Cherub Choir is singing at the early service, then she's got dress rehearsal for their Christmas concert later this week, and finally, we're riding the North Pole Limited -- our city's version of the Polar Express train. I love the Christmas season, but after a weekend like this, I'm ready to just stay home for a day or two!
